In the News: Vancouver issues more library cards for eBooks

The Vancouver Public Library has benefited from the eBook popularity boom, according to a recent article from The Vancouver Sun. VPL, which is part of British Columbia Libraries, issued 60,000 new library cards in 2008-09. That’s up from 42,000 in 2007-08. On Friday, Boston Public Library became the first OverDrive library partner to add more than 15,000 public domain eBooks from Project Gutenberg to its ‘Virtual Branch’ website—at no cost to the library.
