On Feb. 15, The Audio Publishers Association (APA) announced the finalists in the 2010 Audies competition. Several of the year’s big books such as True Compass and The Help were among the nominees in 28 different categories.

Standouts include:

  • A Little Bit Wicked: An autobiography by Emmy Award-winner and Wicked star Kristin Chenoweth.
  • Beat the Reaper: The debut crime novel centered on a young MD is from author and real life doctor Josh Bazell.
  • Lawn Boy: Beloved author of Hatchet, and many other series, Gary Paulsen is back with a delightful story of a young entrepreneur.
  • Slumdog Millionaire: We know it as the Academy Award winner for Best Picture, but the story behind the movie was Q & A by Vikas Swarup.
  • Wolf Hall: English novelist Hilary Mantel won the 2009 Man Booker Prize for this historical epic set in 16th century Europe.

So who will win? I have my guesses, but we will have to wait until the May 25 gala where the winners will be announced.
