The holiday season is upon us and brings with it a sense of fellowship, thanksgiving, communion, benevolence and, of course, shiny wrapped boxes. Undoubtedly many of these boxes will be housing brand new eReader devices, a gift that is projected to be a hot commodity globally by several consumer reporting agencies (as well as in my own household). Here are a few holiday themed eBooks to get your devices rolling in the right direction.

Christmas is December 25th and the popular holiday titles are prevalent this time of year.  A few of the newer titles are The Perfect Christmas (Debbie Macomber), An O’Brien Family Christmas (Sherryl Woods) and Twas the Night Before Christmas 21st Century Edition(Bruce Kluger)HarperCollins also puts out numerous holiday titles each year and this year those titles include The Best Christmas Pageant Ever by Barbara Robinson and Tim Dorsey’s When Elves Attack.

Hanukkah begins at sunset on December 20th; to be prepared to celebrate you may want to grab Judyth Groner’s title All About Hanukkah. The title was originally published more than 10 years ago in print form, but it still offers a great deal of background information about the holiday. If you’re looking more toward teaching lessons associated with maturing during the holiday, then Sharon Duke Estroff’s Can I Have a Cell Phone for Hanukkah is a great choice.  You also may want to view Hanukkah Gelt, a mystery thriller by T. Lee Harris.

Also, be sure to check out Crabtree Publishing and their Celebrations in My World series, which includes titles like Diwali, about the “Festival of Lights” celebration of Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists that occurred on October 26, 2011. You can also read Eid al-Adha  to learn about the Muslim “Festival of Sacrifice” that took place in early November, or Kwanzaa, which teaches readers about the week-long celebration of African-American heritage beginning December 26.
