    A few questions:
    1. Does this work like iPad in that Adobe has to be activated? Or does Adobe have be downloaded?
2.Does it work with both ePub and PDF eBook formats?
    3. Is there a return early option on the device itself? If not how does one return an ebook early when using the device?
    These videos are very helpful.
    Thanks!

Hello Eileen! The device doesn’t need any extra software; however, you will need to activate the device with an Adobe ID. The mobile version of the website will only show EPUB eBooks for direct downloads, but it is possible to transfer both PDF and EPUB eBooks to the Sony Reader from a computer. And finally, yes, from the device you have the ability to return your checked out titles early. Hope this helps! -Brianne

Are you able to return books early the way you can through Adobe Digital Editions?

Very helpful video, thanks! Where does the usual Adobe authorization fit into this?

Does anyone have something similar about downloading Overdrive ebooks to a NOOK?

  5. Susan Harding

I find your blog entries helpful and informative. Thank you. Is it possible to download directly to a Nook Color like you can with the Sony Wi-Fi and the Kindle Wi-Fi?

    • Brianne Carlon

Hi Susan, the NOOK Color does not allow for direct downloads yet but keep checking back for updates! -Brianne

Thank you for the really clear demonstration. Do you happen to know if “Find a library” works outside the US?

    • Brianne Carlon

Hi Julia, The Sony Reader Wi-Fi direct download capability is available for libraries partners in the US, Canada, Great Britain, and Ireland. Thanks! -Brianne

Very helpful video. Using the WiFi feature with the Overdrive product makes the Sony product very desirable. Is it the Open Epub format that works without side-loading? Wondering if our library should buy more of this format?

  8. Kindle Fire Reader

Nice to know that it can be read in ebook reader as well. I just bought a kindle fire and waiting for its delivery on nov 15. Hope this can be supported under kindle fire.

Can a Sony Reader Wi-Fi bought in USA direct download from a library in Australia?

    • Brianne Carlon

Hello Helen, the Sony Wi-Fi is not currently available for Australia, meaning it will not be able to find Australian libraries in the search results. Sorry for the inconvenience. -Brianne

Hi – a question: can books be downloaded to the Reader Wi-Fi through Adobe Digital Editions when the reader is connected to a computer with its cable(as well as through direct download)? Wondering on behalf of a patron who doesn’t have wireless at home! Thanks.

  11. Wendy

I would also like to know when Australian libraries will be in the search results?
We missed out on the Kindle option, now this as well?

    • Brianne Carlon

Hi Wendy, this has to do with Sony’s capabilities, not OverDrive’s decision. -Brianne

Hi, Can you tell me how to return library books early from the device? I can’t seem to figure it out.

    thanks,

Brianne, thanks for all the speedy replies.
I regularly use Overdrive’s services via my local library (Phoenix) to download books to my Sony e-reader.
I have taken a job which will require frequent travel to Australia. Will I be able to feed my reading-appetite (continue to download books from my beloved Phx library) when I am in Sydney?

    • David Burleigh

You can access your library’s website 24/7 from anywhere, and as long as you have a good connection in Sydney you should be all set!

Is it possible to download via a PC to a Wi Fi Sony Reader or is WiFi the only option?

    Thanks.
