Nexus 7

Android devices hold a large share of the tablet market42.7 percent,  according to the latest report from International Data Corporation—so it makes sense to see what all the fuss is about. For evidence of said fuss, look no further than the Nexus tablets on offer directly from Android’s parent, Google. With hardware optimized for the latest version of the Android operating system, the Nexus 7 and 10 are Google’s flagship tablets.

Let’s start with the Nexus 7, the smaller of the two tablets. You can choose either 16GB or 32GB of storage—sorry, no expandable storage. But you do get 1GB of RAM, a front-facing camera, WiFi, and a Micro USB connection.  With a 7-inch, HD screen made of scratch-resistant Corning glass, the Nexus 7 offers an excellent eBook experience, perfect for enjoying your library’s digital collection via the OverDrive Media Console for Android app.

On to the Nexus 10, the big one. As with its 7-inch sibling, the Nexus 10 offers 16GB and 32GB storage options, still without the option to expand. But they did beef up the RAM a little, to 2GB. You also get a front and rear camera, WiFi, Micro USB and Micro HDMI. And, of course, a stunning HD screen, protected by Corning’s amazing Gorilla Glass. I agree with fellow OverDrive blogger Quinton Lawman: the Nexus 10 offers the best eBook experience of any tablet on the market.

Great article on the Nexus 7 & 10. I would really like to see a similar article describing how the Samsung Galaxy 10 stacks up as well. Thanks!

Just a question if you can help me. I am using overdrive on my nook hd. In the middle of my book the page went blank and when I try to load again(this is a book from the library) it just says loading but will not load the book anymore. Do I need to unload the overdrive and reload or is there something else I can do? Thanks
