The Digital Bookmobile spent this past weekend in our nation’s capital for the 10th annual National Book Festival, sponsored by the Library of Congress. Having never traveled with the Bookmobile, I didn’t know what to expect. When this AP story hit the wire in the morning, I knew I was in for a big event.

As the day progressed, a continuous stream of visitors came through the Digital Bookmobile—in fact, over 2,800 people toured the truck. With help from our friends at the DC Public Library, we worked hard to attract people to the Bookmobile, introduce them to digital books from the library, and answer any questions along the way. It was great to engage people with compatible devices in the “Gadget Gallery”, especially with so many patrons interested in eBook readers. (I was amazed that even a 3-year-old could navigate the Sony Reader with ease.)

After a long day in the sun, we packed up the Bookmobile. Over dinner, we were excited to see our own CEO Steve Potash on the DC area Fox Evening News.

Thank you to everyone who visited the Digital Bookmobile at the National Book Festival. If you haven’t seen the truck yet, check out the schedule of to see if it’s heading to a town near you. Also, keep updated on the Bookmobile’s travels by following us on Twitter and liking us Facebook. I hope to see you at a Digital Bookmobile event soon!
