The first Digital Bookmobile event took place four years ago in New York's Central Park.

Four years ago today—August 10, 2008—the Digital Bookmobile hosted its first outreach event, in New York City’s Central Park. “All I remember about that day is that it was really hot,” says OverDrive’s Megan Greer, who helped put on the inaugural event. “And there was a lion.”

We’re not sure what happened to the lion, but the Digital Bookmobile is still going strong, raising awareness for library eBooks at free events throughout North America. Today, the Digital Bookmobile team is en route from Albany to Rochester, New York, where we’ll be hosting events at Penfield Public Library on August 13 and 14. Happy Birthday, Digital Bookmobile. It’s been a great ride so far!
