Don’t leave kids out in the cold! Make sure they have a Kids’ eReading Room to browse and find their own material in a safe environment without the fear of running into a bodice ripper.

A Kids’ eReading Room is a section of your OverDrive site devoted just to children’s material. Parents and children can link directly to the room or easily find a link on the regular OverDrive site. Your library can customized the design of the room to appeal to your young readers with titles that are only for juveniles, young adults or both. The process to checkout and place holds is the same, so kids will learn along with their parents (or teach their parents) and be able to checkout material fit for their age group.

Parents don’t have to worry about their child coming across mature material. Searching within a Kids’ eReading room is safe because all materials are approved for that age group. Discover-ability becomes easy for the impatient youth with subjects that link to their favorite books. Librarians also have the ability to curate within this collection to make it even easier for their young patrons to find a new friend or an old favorite within the library’s OverDrive collection.

1/3 of our library’s children’s eBook checkouts are done through our Kids eReading Room. We’re looking forward to seeing how the eReading Rooms are incorporated into the OverDrive site redesign!
