We’re excited to announce a new partnership with Simon & Schuster’s Pimsleur Language Programs to be the exclusive international (outside the U.S.) digital wholesaler to public and school libraries and non-exclusively to U.S. public libraries and corporate libraries worldwide. The Pimsleur Language Program offers 50 languages for English speakers and has proven expertise in English as a Second Language (ESL) with programs in 14 languages. Learners spend just 30 minutes a day for 30 days to achieve intermediate-level proficiency and can learn Spanish, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Russian and more. The Pimsleur Method allows users to effectively learn a language the way native speakers do by integrating vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation into everyday conversations.

Capture“We’re thrilled to make the Pimsleur Language Program catalog available for lending through our network of 34,000 libraries, schools and colleges worldwide,” said Karen Estrovich, OverDrive’s Director of Collection Development. “Millions of library patrons and students can now learn and speak a new language anywhere, anytime on any device.”

The addition of Pimsleur strengthens a robust catalog of 3.3 million eBooks, audiobooks and streaming video titles from more than 5,000 publishers in 50 languages available through OverDrive. The Pimsleur language products will be offered through OverDrive in five lesson and 30 lesson packages.

Students can benefit from their school or district adding the Pimsleur Language Program to their digital catalog to supplement their language learning and ESL programs. More than 4 million students are enrolled in ESL programs in schools across the United States. Learning to speak and understand English has been associated with improved educational outcomes. These self-study courses can help students achieve that goal quickly.
