Digital content use in schools is no longer a new frontier, with more than 80 percent of schools and districts now using some form of digital content in the classroom. The use of digital content – including eBooks, audiobooks and digital textbooks – is a growing part of the curriculum in the classroom. To learn more about this trend, ASCD and OverDrive, the leading eBook and audiobook platform for schools, teamed up to conduct a proprietary research study, “Digital Content Goes to School: Trends in K-12 Classroom e-Learning,” with ASCD members as the study’s participants. Highlights will be presented at the 71st ASCD Annual Conference and Exhibit Show in Atlanta on April 2 and 3, and the full report is available for download at company.overdrive.com/digitalcontentreport.

ASCD_OverDrive_DigitalContentGoesToSchool_2During the ASCD conference in Atlanta this weekend, OverDrive will share highlights from the survey that was co-sponsored by ASCD. The findings show that not only do schools and districts continue to make digital reading options available to their students but that they are implementing these tools in their daily curriculum more than ever.

Responders to the survey offered up three major benefits to blending digital content into the curriculum:

• Deliver individualized instruction,
• Allow students to practice independently, and
• Capture greater student attention/engagement.

Attendees can visit OverDrive in booth #1109 to learn about the various platform models we offer to provide interactive, digital content for your students. We’ll also have two separate presentations where attendees can see and hear highlights from the research. Providing students access to digital content has never been more essential to creating a comprehensive curriculum, and we’re excited to show at ASCD how OverDrive is the best option to enable students to engage in this content anytime, anywhere.

Whether you’re attending ASCD or not you can view the survey results and executive summary here.
