ASCD and OverDrive conducted a survey of over 2,000 K-12 administrators about technology in their classrooms and schools.

Seventy-four percent of educators felt their teachers most desired English/language arts content in digital format, followed by science, math, and social studies. Schools already using digital content in their curriculum were more interested in science, social studies, and foreign languages. Devices are an influential factor: if a 1:1 program was present in the school or district, all subjects saw a jump in interest level.

Educators also ranked types of digital products teachers wanted. Seventy-four percent of respondents cited informational texts and literary nonfiction, aligned to units of study as most helpful. Interactive intervention, assessment and skill training software came in a close second.
