Apple released iOS 7 yesterday and many Apple users may have upgraded their device(s) or will be upgrading in the near future.

 

When an existing OverDrive Media Console (OMC) user upgrades to iOS 7, the app will fail when trying to open a DRM-protected eBook. New or first time users of OMC are unaffected by this issue meaning that if you download the app for the first time post-iOS7 update you will not experience this issue.

 

We are resolving the issue but in the meantime, the immediate remedy for users is to uninstall and re-install OMC which will also require the user to re-authorize with Adobe. IMPORTANT NOTE: A re-install will clear a user’s bookshelf, history, and app settings.

Audiobook users won’t notice that anything is different unless they attempt to download parts of audiobooks they already downloaded to OMC before upgrading to iOS 7. A user will receive an error message informing them to download the title again.

    I’m unable to deauthorize in version 3.0.1 and iOS 7. I tap deauthorize, a dialog box pops up where I tap deauthorize again, but nothing appears to happen.

    I’ve tried closing the app and trying again, but get the same results.

    Uninstall worked. I couldn’t deauthorize either, but at least the second option worked.

    I was unable to deauthorize, however I unistalled and that worked. I hope other users can figure this out I have been trying all morning and finally started looking online to see if other people were having issues aswell.

    When I transferred a WMA audiobook with OMC and IOS7, The book transferred to the phone but with no title or author. There was just a vacant space on the audiobook list. It worked when you selected the empty, it started the book, but it still was un identified.

    I was able to delete the app, then download it again from App Store. Then I had to authorize my iPad and add my library again. It works great now. I had to download my book again also.

    Adam- I am reading a book and now can not access it with IOS 7. If i uninstall will I lose the book? Any idea when an update will be available?

      The book will still be in your checked out books in your library account you’ll just need to redownload it again. The update is coming soon but we do not have an exact time just yet.

    Great, so I can’t read the book I’m in the middle of AND I will lose all my holds, some of which I waited weeks for? That’s my only option?

      Hi kathy, your holds aren’t maintained through the app. That’s through your library website which is unaffected. You’re able to reinstall the app and download the title you’re reading again. The holds liksts won’t change.

    Is there no way to save the books before deleting? Any approximate ETA on a fix (a few days, weeks, ???) I have over 100 ebooks and don’t want to have to individually download them again if a fix is foreseen this week. But I don’t want to wait longer… But appreciate that you are working on it!

    Overdrive updated the app to 3.0.2 in the app store to correct the iOS7 problems it had. You will have to reauthorize using an Adobe id. But it is working for me.

    Adam, I am able to reinstall, add library, sign into library, go to re download book, adobe id, then it tells me “this license has already been fulfilled by another user”. I have tried 5 different email addresses. HELP!!

    The Overdrive update screen has frozen over my iTunes Store screen preventing me from doing other app updates, access store, etc. I tried deleting and then reinstalling Overdrive but the update app screen is still frozen. Help!

    After update I was asked to authorize Overdrive but get error message that I have reached limit of authorizations. However prior to ios 7 install iPhone was properly authorized. Tis is NOT another device, just the same one with upgraded software. Help please?

    When I try to redo load the files for a book that I just got off of my holds (after almost 2months, I think), it says that the license has already been fulfilled by another user. I’m pretty angry….can anyone help me? Or do I just have to put the book on hold again and hope it doesn’t happen next time? Ugh!!

    Thank you, Adam. For anyone else using an iPad, that also has to set up their Adobe ID, DO NOT try to download any files until you’re sure there aren’t any bugs that you’ll have to deal with. I was notified that a book I placed on hold about a month ago was FINALLY mine…..and I didn’t make sure everything was handled, so now I am right back at number 32 on the waiting list. Last Game of Thrones book that I need to read……GAHHH! I hope I can spare someone else from my frustrations.

    I have a iphone with IOS 7.0.2 software. I was having problems loading WMA books. I uninstalled and reinstalled Overdrive software. I can now download books, BUT
    No picture of the book is shown in Music. There is a little darker space. When I hit that space, I can then see the Parts of the loaded book. BUT when I loaded a second book, it loaded into the same space. So now when I look at Parts of a Book, I see Book 1 Part 1, Book 2 Part 1,Book 1 Part 2 , Book 2 Part 2 etc. Sp when listening to a book, I hear Book 1 Part 1 followed by Book 2 Part 1. etc. I have to manually select the Parts of the particular book that I am listening to.

    I use the Overdrive Media Console on my Win7 computer to download audiobooks and then transfer them to my iphone to listen to them. After updating to IOS7 I found that transferring the books did not work correctly.

    Parts of the newly transferred book would be added into the middle of other books that had already been uploaded. Parts of the new book would be shown in a new blank audiobook entry with no title or picture to identify what it was. Part would be loaded into a new entry with the author only but no title or picture.

    I have updated to the latest version of Overdrive Media (3.2.2.0)but that doesn’t work either.

    I updated Overdrive App on my iphone (v3.0.2) to see if that would work but when I logged into my library from my phone and tried to get the book it shows it is already checked out – obviously to me since I had it checked out for another 2 weeks.

    Hi, since IOS 7 I have not been able to download content to overdrive as it claims it isn’t connected to the internet. Before I uninstalled overdrive I could see my library but requested material just sat ‘waiting’. I have since uninstalled overdrive, reinstalled it and reauthorised it with Adobe but now it won’t even let me add my library as ‘there is no internet connection’ I have the most up to date iOS and overdrive on an ipad mini but it won’t work for us :-(. I do have a good wifi connection but just not working. Is it the software or a setting mistake that I have made.

    I am still not getting the dictionary pop up to work but everything else does. I reinstalled overdrive (had to contact Adobe to get approval for more devices so I won’t do it again. Do you have a fix for dictionary pop up?

    Instructions for how to resolve this ios 7 issue are poor at best. I get the error message fulfill:2004 and something about the license being fulfilled by another user.

    Recently upgraded iPhone to iOS 7 and also got latest update to OMC (3.0.2). Had been working fine before that but now: the phone must be “awake” in order to listen to an audiobook; when I depress the sleep/wake button to put the phone to sleep, the sound fades and stops. This also happens if I let it go to sleep naturally. This has never been a problem before: perhaps it has something to do with the new app. Thanks.

    I have been having a really annoying problem downloading audio books onto my wife’s ipad mini since the upgrade to IOS7 (and the two bug fixes since). On my home wifi overdrive refuses to believe that it is on the internet, but when I go to the Apple store or public library I can download the files.
    So far I have deleted the audio files. Shut down overdrive, restarted ipad, de authorised overdrive, re authorised overdrive, uninstalled overdrive, reinstalled overdrive, ‘forgotten’ home network, reconnected to home network, refreshed home network, renamed home network, changed the security settings to WPA2 and banged my head off the desk. Only banging my head seemed to help me…

    Do you have any suggestions as to what I need to do to get overdrive to connect to a 3 month old wifi router after the IOS 7 update?

    Am I missing something really easy?

    Any suggestions are welcome as I have run out of ideas.

    I’m having trouble with audiobooks and iOS7. The book downloads and as I listen, I seem to lose files. Only one file at a time will load and only when I have finished listening to the previous file. So frustrating! Anyone else having this issue?

    The problem came when I updated my ios 7. OMC wouldn’t down audiobooks. I tried to what OMC suggested: uninstall and reinstall OMC but still had problem downloading books. I tried uninstall and reinstall OMC three times and still doesn’t download well. After numerous attempt only manage to download one section of book. Please fix this problem soon. Thanks

    My dictionary works on my iPhone (OS 7.3) — but not on my iPad. I find that very odd. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled on iPad – still no dictionary. I see here it is a known issue that will be resolved soon. Just wanted to let you know that it DOES work on iPhone.

    After the last update audio downloads are now working again on the overdrive for iPad mini. ‘er indoors is happy again 🙂

    It had got even odder, if I found a wifi network that overdrive did see then it appeared to download all files (say 39 of them) but then 10 minutes later only have 5 and be ‘processing’ the rest. These then disappeared a little while later.

    I didn’t update my post as I was just waiting (and hoping) for an updated overdrive that may fix my problems.

    Hook up your device to the computer and click on it under iTunes and then look under music. If you can see the audiobook sections but they are grayed out, try hitting the sync button at the lower left hand of the screen. That worked for me.

    We are having a problem with overdrive on my mom’s ipad mini that I am not having on my regular ipad (separate accounts). On the mini after I download an ebook from the library, nothing happens when I click on “bookshelf” so that she can read the book. The book is there, it has downloaded, but the only way to get to the book to read it is to close the app (completely), then open it again. Then we get the actual bookshelf on which you can choose the book to read. Neither of the devices have updated to ios7 from 6 and this problem predates ios7. Any thoughts?
