Training Month 2010

Can you believe October is here? That means OverDrive’s Training Month is complete, and we’d like to send big “thank you” to all of our participating partners. Nearly 5,000 staff registered to learn more about their OverDrive service. Many registered for multiple sessions or on behalf of a group, resulting in 13,000 total participations from 7 different countries.

Every year, we add new features based on your feedback. Here are a few notable improvements introduced this year:

A new course… Mobile Update. This 30-minute session covered mobile access options, including Android, BlackBerry, iPhone, and more.
A new way to connect… Broadcast Audio. Audio for Training Month sessions was provided via speakers/headphones, leaving your phone lines open.
A new way to interact… Polling. We polled for your input in several sessions. Here’s what we found:

  • An average of 13% of ‘Browse, Check Out, Download’ attendees own an eBook reader.
  • Participants in ‘Collection Checklist’ provided suggestions for titles they would like to see added to the OverDrive catalog.

Prize Winners: Four prize packages (Small Library, Medium Library, Large Library, Consortium) will be awarded to partners with the most staff participation. Prizes include a collection credit and five Creative Zen X-Fi Style audio players. Check back at the end of October to see all winners announced here.

Missed Training Month? Contact to request materials. In addition, OverDrive offers ongoing, customized training (via the web) scheduled when it’s convenient for your staff. We’ll also create a recording for you to share. Also, you are invited to attend our open Community Outreach training, which occurs the first Thursday of every month. Register for this month’s session, being held tomorrow (Thursday) at 2 p.m. ET.

If you have any questions or comments, we’d love to hear from you. Please contact

    We learned a lot…THANK-YOU!
As our confidence grows so does our excitement which creates a domino effect and our patrons become excited and gain confidence. I’ve been able to answer more questions myself and not passing on to Overdrive specialist for the consortium. Thanks again!
