CLEVELAND, OH – September 18, 2000 –  ePub University (www.epubu.com), the leading proponent of education initiatives for the publishing community, announced today its inaugural seminar series “ePublishing 101: The How-To Sessions”  will be held in conjunction with ePubExpo at the Millennium Hotel in New York City on October 31 and November 1, 2000.  This first of a series of seminars by ePub University will feature case studies by IDG Books Worldwide, Inc. (Nasdaq: IDGB), the leading global knowledge company and Slate Magazine, the pioneering e-Z sponsored by Microsoft® Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT).   The objective of the “ePublishing 101: The How-To Sessions” is to bring together publishing industry professionals to share and exchange knowledge and feel more comfortable with the technology that empowers a variety of current eBook strategies.

“This seminar will be a first of this type for publishing professionals,” said Cameron Kissel, the Dean of ePub University. “The case study approach along with other presentations is a powerful way to demonstrate what can be accomplished. People have had enough of the broad-brush strokes and they’re asking for more hands-on, how-to reality. With the How-To sessions, we hope to have attendees walking out with real-life takeaways that will help them when they return to their businesses,” concluded Kissel

“I am personally excited at the prospect of sharing some of the Slate’s recent successes employing eBook formats to allow our webzine viewers with the flexibility to take information away from the site,” stated Scott Moore, Publisher of Slate. “The case study that I will present highlights the tools that Slate used which allow our site visitors to select the content they wish to save and create an eBook,” he added.
