It’s no mystery that library patrons love eBooks, and no surprise that most top-ranked libraries rely on OverDrive to supply those eBooks.

Last week, Library Journal published the fifth edition of its “Index of Public Library Service.” The index ranks libraries according to the quantity of services offered, assigning “Star” rankings to those with the highest scores.

Among 262 Star libraries, more than 80 percent offer their patrons access to digital content via OverDrive. We’re proud to serve 74 of the 86 five-Star libraries on the 2012 list, and 29 of the 30 libraries that earned five Stars in all five editions of the index.

Congratulations to every Star on the list! If your library is a longtime OverDrive partner, we thank you for helping us continue to refine our eBook-lending platform. If your library doesn’t work with OverDrive, we invite you to see what you’re missing! With the pending rollout of our Next Generation  library platform—featuring one-step checkout and the browser-based eReading technology, OverDrive Read—there’s never been a better time to launch your library’s eBook initiative.
